Challenges
The previous container identification process limited the ability to fully monitor collection operations and made ongoing operational reporting more difficult. SAV required a solution enabling automatic identification of containers during waste collection.
Solution
As part of the project, an RFID identification system supporting the daily operation of waste collection vehicles was implemented.
The scope of the project included:
- delivery of RFID transponders for waste containers,
- installation of RFID readers on waste collection vehicles,
- integration of the solution with the client’s existing IT system,
- delivery and installation of manual USB-connected RFID readers.
The implemented RFID transponders enable unambiguous identification of containers during emptying. Readers installed on the vehicle body automatically read container data during collection operations without requiring operator intervention.
The system records information about completed collections, including the container ID, operation time, and assignment to a specific vehicle and route. The data is then transferred to SAV’s existing IT system, enabling real-time monitoring of service execution and the generation of operational reports.
The implemented solution was adapted to the specifics of SAV’s fleet and work organization, ensuring stable and automatic container identification in daily operations.
